(bottled in January of this year; Boudot bottled his crus in March, following 12 months in barrel and a sojourn in tank): Ripe peach and smoky oak aromas are lifted by spice and floral notes. Sweet, musky stone fruit and spicy oak flavors come across as uncompromisingly dry and taut. Finishes with a firm edge and a slightly sour hint of lemon drop.

Sauzet's 2011 Puligny-Montrachet is rich and expressive, yet also weightless. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and white-fleshed fruit all meld together in a deep, resonant wine. The 2011 is particularly beautiful for its textured finish.
(I tasted an assemblage of all five components): Sexy nose combines white flowers, spices and musky lees. Fat, plush and sweet, with a firm mineral edge giving the mid-palate a more chiseled quality than the Chassagne villages. The citrus and dusty stone finish conveys an impression of grip and firmness.
As it typically the case this is more aromatically refined than the Chassagne with its pure scents of acacia blossom, pear, lemon rind and a hint of pain grillé. The delicious, stylish and intense flavors are equally refined with a beautifully and caressing mouth feel on the moderately complex but nicely persistent finish. Solid if not truly distinguished.
