Score 95+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2006

Ineffable aromas of powdered stone, violet, lemon, lime and sea salt. Precise and penetrating wine, with outstanding clarity, energy and cut. Subtle but endlessly complex flavors of crushed stone, citrus peel, hazelnut, flowers and spices. Conveys an impression of chewy extract and yet seems utterly weightless. Wonderfully gripping wine but not austere or hard. This must be one of the longest wines of the vintage. Boasts great inner-mouth energy and lift.

Cask sample. Great combination of depth and delicacy. Lovely texture and some hint of walnuts. Grainy and bone dry with great tension and wonderful green fruit flavours. This and the Batard-Montrachet beautifully express terroir. Very, very long. (JR)
