Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chevalier Montrachet les Demoiselles Grand Cru from Louis Latour is worrying. It already seems fully matured on the rich and honeyed nose that desperately needs more freshness and delineation. The palate is overripe, rather flaccid and severely lacking freshness. This is thoroughly disappointing. Caveat emptor.

Cloudy. Actually quite rich – almost more like a Bâtard! But there is structure here too. Promising. Good length. Very powerful on the finish. (JR)

About the producer
The Latour family has been growing vines in Burgundy since at least 1731. Their négociant business – today one of the region’s biggest names – was founded in 1797. Still family-owned today, the company owns 48 hectares of vines, 27 of which are Grand Cru, as well as its own cooperage.
