Score 94/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound

There is a mild touch of reduction and if you're going to try a bottle young, I would strongly advise decanting it first. Otherwise, a pure nose of ripe and ever-so-mildly exotic yellow orchard fruit, honeysuckle and fennel aromas complements perfectly the equally ripe and distinctly powerful broad-shouldered flavors that brim with palate coating dry extract that helps to buffer the very firm acidity on the tight and explosively long finish. This is markedly dry and intense but not especially austere and I suspect that 5 to 7 years will be sufficient to begin enjoying, though I suspect that it will require most of a decade to reveal its full, and considerable, potential. Either way, this should be a very imposing wine when it's fully ready. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2019+
