For much of the decade of the eighties I have been enthusiastic about the efforts of the proprietor of Destieux, Monsieur Dauriac, who tends to produce powerful, dense, tannic wines with the potential to last for 10-15 years. At first unfocused and lacking definition, the 1989 has developed into a rich, highly extracted, powerful, dense wine that may be too charged with tannin. Anticipated maturity: 1996-2005. Tasted four times. Inconsistent notes.
