Helmut got this vineyard from his brother in law three years ago. With lovely subtle, spicy aromas and with a dash of lemon juice on the nose, the 2013 Roxheimer Höllenpfad Riesling Trocken from red sandstone (Rotliegend) is very pure and elegant, displaying almost tropical flavors. This is a quite rich and powerful but very fine and filigreed as well as mineral wine with great finesse and racy acidity. This is an absolutely delicate wine with a slightly mineral finish. Quite powerful but with less alcohol than the Kahlenberg.

Quite floral, intense and with really crunchy fruit. Very long indeed. (JR)
You have to begin with the finish of this dry Riesling to give it its due credit. It does linger a bit, but though not quite the path to hell (Höllenpfad) it does offer a bit of a rough ride at this early stage. Pith and peel notes dominate, though I expect the (grape)fruit to make a breakthrough not long from now. If all this sounds a little derogatory, my marks are mainly based on substance and authenticity, and this trocken has plenty of both. (MS)
