The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes is promising, but also hard to taste, as the elements aren't fully formed just yet. Baudes typically yields firm Chambolles, so it is not entirely surprising the 2011 is much less expressive than the other wines in the range. There is reason to be cautiously optimistic, though, as the rest of these wines are all terrific.

Fresh and silky. Dense and dry on the end. Slightly bitter notes. (JR)

Medium red. Very closed nose hints at red and black cherry, menthol and pepper. Sweet, spicy and fine-grained, with good peppery lift to the flavors of maraschino cherry and fresh herbs. Finishes firmly tannic and youthfully compact, but with plenty of sap and verve.
