The 2013 Haut Bages Libéral seemed rather anonymous and had a, dare I say, "dour" nose that requires fruit to come from somewhere. The palate is medium-bodied with firm and slightly dry tannin. This Pauillac is missing some weight in the middle but recovers towards its conservative finish. The finish is better than the entry here, so there is some hope it may improve in bottle.

Menthol and blackcurrant nose – very pleasant and fragrant. Just enough chew to give definition without intruding on the palate. Attractive, minty finish. (RH)
