The 2013 La Tour Blanche has a rather simple bouquet compared to other vintages, with touches of adhesive infusing the dried honey scents. The palate is well balanced and lightly spiced with a tang of marmalade, stem ginger and quince. It has moderate depth, leading to a powerful but not overly complex finish.

The 2013 La Tour Blanche doesn't entirely gel on the nose, with lime, candied orange peel and light white linen scents emerging with time. The palate is balanced with barley sugar on the entry, marmalade and dried apricot, tapering slightly towards the finish. I expected a bit more in terms of tension, so I would drink this soon.

Tasted blind. Spicy citrus and dried grasses. Rich apricot sweetness and impressive intensity and length. Power and showy, very very sweet but balanced. (JH)

Very faintly musty on the nose. Pleasant grapefruit and citrus with a candied note to finish, but there is a lurking unfreshness in the background – perhaps just in this bottle. (RH)
