The 2013 Doisy-Védrines has a pure and seductive bouquet with lemon curd, apricot blossom and barley sugar scents that blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with dried honey, candied orange peel and light spicy notes toward the finish. It's not as corpulent or unctuous as other vintages, and I suspect some Sauternes-lovers might appreciate that. Drink now and over the next decade.

Tasted blind. Quite pale. Almonds and lemon. Fat and full but not very long. Easy sweetness/acid balance but then really long. (JH)
Lemon sorbet, cream, crystallised ginger and candied peel. Lovely persistent fragrance on the palate. Good concentration on the length. (RH)
An exotic, beguiling wine, the 2013 Doisy-Védrines lifts from the glass with expressive floral notes, white stone fruits, peach and apricots. The 2013 is soft, gentle and very nicely layered, conveying an impression of total elegance and finesse.
About the producer
Owned by the Castéja family (of Ch. Batailley) since 1946, Ch. Doisy-Védrines produces a particularly rich and full-bodied style of wine, with around 80% of the vines Semillon. Although located in Barsac, the wines are bottled under the Sauternes appellation.
