The 2013 Clos Haut-Peyraguey has an attractive bouquet with a light petrol tincture. There's fine delineation, and it gains enticing apricot and frangipane scents as it opens in the glass. The palate is nicely balanced with orange rind and marmalade, fine depth and a hint of toffee apple towards the composed finish. Bon vin.

Tasted blind. Subtle on the nose. Touch of candied lemon. Better freshness than Dom de l'Alliance with a bitter-orange complexity. Deep, fresh and well balanced. (JH)
The Clos Haut-Peyraguey, now within the stable of Bernard Magrez, is slightly deeper in color than its peers. It has a gentle, slightly nutty and smoky bouquet that unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is viscous on the entry with mellifluous honeyed fruit. There is plenty of botrytis here, good acidity with a concentrated, almost Climens-like finish. This is very fine and could merit a higher score after bottling.
