Tasting notes
Very fresh and clean, showing lemons and hints of flint and oyster shells on the nose. Fine mousse on the palate, with racy acidity and a dry, refreshing finish. Based on 2021, with 25% perpetual reserve. Drink now.

Fine wine from Le Mesnil has skipped from Fields, Morris & Verdin to Liberty Wines. Base wines from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant and Avize. The Extra Brut was aged for a minimum of 36 months on lees before release and received a dosage of 2 g/l. There is a QR code on the back which tells me this blend is based on the 2017 vintage, plus older wines from Rodolphe Péters' perpetual researve, and was disgorged in October 2020. Light, transparent nose. Very readable and transparent wine. Lifted with an impact that builds on the finish but is almost unnoticeable on the nose initially. So, so different from the Moëts just tasted! This is a sort of Chablis of Champagne … but is not uncomfortably dry and tart with a light yeastiness on the finish. There's something distinctly floral about it. Even pretty. Though it's not cheap.
