San Felice's 2011 Chianti Classico is not as successful as the 2010 edition (a wine that I really adored). Sangiovese is blended with Colorino and Pugnitello to form a smooth embroidery of dark fruit and spice. This vintage feels a bit heavier and flatter thanks to the summer heat and the warmer growing conditions in the Castelnuovo Berardenga sub zone. Sweet cherry fruit and cola appear on the close.

The 2011 Chianti Classico San Felice fleshes out nicely in the glass. Racy and layered in the style of the year, the 2011 shows the richness and raciness of the year while retaining lovely balance. Sweet red cherries, kirsch, mint and cinnamon are some of the notes that resonate on the finish.
