The 2011 IGT Montevertine (Sangioveto, Canaiolo and Colorino) is enormously silky and smooth with a superior sense of finesse and elegance. Radda in Chianti has some of the highest vineyards where Tuscan grapes develop their trademark acidity. Dark fruit and dried cherries segue to delicate spice, chopped mint, blue flower and dried tobacco. Its profound sense of elegance is impossible to miss. This is a beautiful expression that boldly defeats anything negative you may know about the 2011 vintage. It’s a true stunner.

The 2011 Montevertine is gorgeous. A rich, textured wine, the 2011 hits the palate with exuberant dark fruit, spices, new leather and tobacco. This is a decidedly rich, layered Montevertine, with darker fruit than normal and plenty of richness, all of which means it will drink well pretty much right out of the gate. Montevertine fans looking for a wine to drink without waiting too long will flip out over the 2011.

About the producer
The legendary Montervertine estate was created by the Manetti family in 1967 and is best known for its iconic pure Sangiovese, Le Pergole Torte. Based in Chianti but with the wines labelled as IGT Toscana, these elegant wines are rightfully some of Tuscany and Italy’s most sought-after.
