Score 95/100 · Drink 2017-2035, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

Very clear and precise on the nose starts the citrus-colored 2012 Gewurztraminer Goldert Grand Cru, displaying fresh lime and lemon flavors along with kiwi and also floral aromas. Bottled with 12.5% of alcohol and 77 grams of unfermented sweetness (due to 20% of noble rot) that is nothing but theory, since the wine is so piquant and salty that it tastes as dry as a Scharzhofberger Spätlese if you don't decant it for a day or two. Sure, the soil is completely different (deep limestone marl) and so is the texture of the wine, which is open, round and elegant, but the salinity and piquancy eat gram per gram of the sugar so that the finish is stunningly buoyant and dryish. This is a rich and full-bodied, tension-filled and firmly structured wine of great elegance and stimulating piquancy. A stunnnig wine. A top Goldert and an outstanding Goldert Grand Cru.
