Score 93+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2012

(picked on September 11): Pale, bright yellow. Highly nuanced nose offers lime, gunflint, chicken broth, nutmeg, toasted bread and fresh leafy herbs. Thick and glyceral on entry, then large-scaled and full in the middle for Corton-Charlemagne, but with its richness and sweetness leavened by a strong sappy quality. Not an austere style but the wine's biting, rising finish suggests that it will require at least five or six years of cellaring.
