The 2001 Barolo Storico. made from the Liste vineyard, is a big, structured wine loaded with spiced dark fruit that flows onto the palate with notable expansiveness and sweetness. The use of smaller barrels gives this wine a little more roundness yet this is a wine that relies on heft rather than elegance. Ideally a minimum of a few years of cellaring are called for.
