Owned by the family since the 1930s and with 60 to 65-year-old vines. There is weight and a little more finesse to this still. A touch of sweetness on the nose and this is very focused – excellent tailoring, very precise. This has the power of the Castello di Novello though with more elegance. Energy. Intense. Excellent.

The 2011 Barolo Le Coste is a great single-vineyard expression that is very territorial in personality. There is crushed mineral up front, with salty sensations that segue to plummy dark fruit and dried blackberry. Sweet tannins drive a soft and rich mouthfeel.

Barolo. Deep maturing ruby with bright orange rim. Seems already a little developed on the nose. Spicy ripe fruit that yet has to come out fully. Ripe sun-kissed fruit on the palate and firm, compact, but not rough tannins. Not ready by far. (WS)

Mid garnet. Compost and finesse on the nose and quite a bit of sweetness on the palate. Tense and youthful. GV (JR)
