The 2014 Bastor-Lamontagne has a delightful, quite pure bouquet with wild honey, creme fraiche and white flower scents that are well defined. The palate is well balanced with quince and lychee on the entry, slightly low acidity with toffee apple notes towards the finish that suggest it will mature quicker than its peers. This represents decent early drinking Sauternes. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. A little sugary and simple on the nose though creditable as an early drinker. Fresh. Very clean. (JR)

Paler than the Suduiraut tasted alongside. Lightly honeyed and some blossom on the nose. Quince and lemon on the palate. Deep and fresh. Moderate length and tangy finish. (JH)
