Score 86/100 · Drink 2018-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Yon Figeac appears to have retained that cough candy note that I remarked upon out of barrel, although now it feels more part of the aromatics rather than an "add on". The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a little rustic in style with good backbone. It lacks some nuance on the finish and feels a little blocky, though it is clean and fairly long in the mouth.

The 2014 Yon-Figeac is powerful wine endowed with real depth. Dark cherry, raspberry, rose petal, mint and orange peel all meld together in a sensual, plush Saint-Émilion loaded with personality. Ripe, silky tannins add to the considerable appeal. This gorgeous wine will drink well for a number of years.

83% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. Deep bright crimson. Scented, leafy blackcurrant. Scented on the palate too with a nice dry chalky texture. Fluid and fresh on the finish. (JH)
