Translucent and weightless in the glass, the Cathiard's 2013 Bourgogne is a lovely entry-level offering with notable precision and nuance in its class.

The 2013 Bourgogne Rouge, which is aged in one-year old oak entirely, has a brisk nose with plenty of ripe strawberry and cranberry notes. The palate is medium-bodied with a confit opening: crushed strawberry and a touch of maraschino, brisk 'nn breezy with a pointed, citrus-tinged finish. Enjoy over the next two or three years, possibly longer.

All second-year oak. Very rich and seductive on the nose. Massively seductive. Masses of griotte fruit. Gloriously opulent. With great freshness. VGV (JR)
