Medium garnet colored, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard leaps from the glass with red roses, raspberry leaves and kirsch with a cassis and blackberry core plus hints of anise, Indian spices and florals. The palate is full-bodied with plenty of perfumed fruit and a satiny texture, finishing with incredible energy.

Slightly better is the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Arc Vineyard from Howell Mountain. This wine offers even denser fruit, loads of graphite, mulberry, and blackberry fruit, an enticing minerality, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and again, nothing missing in it. It’s the whole package – rich, concentrated, fleshy and again, quite evolved and supple. Drink it over the next 20+ years.||The genius of Jayson Woodbridge is not in dispute. A bigger than life character, he has a certain personal flamboyance and no-prisoners-taken persona, but what he and his team do in the vineyards and winery speaks for itself.
