Score 93/100 · Drink 2018-2025, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2016

(aged in 30% new oak, a higher percentage than the 2015): Bright straw-yellow. Sexy scents of grapefruit zest, white peach and crushed stone complicated by spicy oak. Wonderfully plush, round and seamless but with terrific saline depth and a weightless quality to its fine-grained citrus fruit and spice flavors. Finishes with a welcome touch of discreet bitterness. This very refined, long wine is presentable now but it would be a shame not to wait a year or two.

Bright lemon-yellow color. Restrained, subtly pungent lemon zest and spice aromas are accompanied by a lightly candied quality. Juicy on the palate but painfully imploded, conveying an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and sexy suggestions of exotic fruits. Very young wine with outstanding energy and cut. Not a particularly salty style but really stimulates the salivary glands; not austere but needs time in the cellar. The highest in octane of these 2014s at 13.8%; this east-facing slope turns to the south and always produces higher alcohol, notes Audrey Braccini.
