The 2015 Puygueraud is a plump, delicious wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather and chocolate are nicely pushed forward in this succulent, racy Merlot-based red. Silky tannins, a host of floral/savory aromatics and plush fruit add to the wine's appeal. The blend is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec. Tasted two times.
80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec. Rich and round – very punchy. Lots of friendly attack. Maybe not for the long term but a sure-fire crowd pleaser. GV (JR)
The 2015 Puygueraud is dark, plummy and delicious. Cherry, plum, chocolate and sweet spice are front and center in this tasty Francs - Côtes de Bordeaux from Nicolas Thienpont. The richness and raciness of the vintage comes through nicely. Hints of violet, plum and cinnamon add perfume on the finish. The blend is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec that seems to give wine an extra kick of exuberance. Tasted two times.
About the producer
The Thienpont family bought Ch. Puygueraud in 1946, running it as a farm until the 1980s when Nicolas Thienpont moved the focus to viticulture, with the first vintage in 1983. Based in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, the property comprises 47 hectares of vines, both red and white.
