The 2015 Château Tour De Pez is a fine, elegant, mineral-driven, mid-weight Saint-Estèphe that’s representative of the vintage in the northern part of the Médoc. Blueberries, blackberries, violets, and spring flowers notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, elegant, pretty 2015 that has fine tannin, a touch of lifted acidity, and an easy going, balanced style. It should drink nicely for 7-8 years.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Tour de Pez felt rather ordinary on the nose, the fruit not as bright as I would have liked. The palate is medium-bodied with tough tannin, some nice red fruit either side but it pulls up a bit short on the finish. Tasted September 2017.

55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Petit Verdot. Lots of grip even if some sweetness rather than truly representative appellation character. Oak awkwardness on the end. But some pleasure delivered. Not fine but good enough. (JR)

Mid crimson. Appetising nose with good savour and attack. The palate is a little less vigorous. Lots of dry tannin on the end. Wait? (JR)
