Score 90/100 · Drink 2003-2018, Robert Parker, Jun 2001

The 1997 Barolo is an impressive generic effort whose fruit all came from the Bricco Boschis. A dense dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by a surprisingly high-toned, well-delineated wine. Notes of black cherries and blackberries are intertwined with minerals, wet stones, rose petals, and spice. Rich and full-bodied, with fine acidity, this classic, potentially long-lived Barolo should be at its finest between 2003-2018. Deep red. Slightly high-toned, roasted aromas of red fruits, with a touch of prune; low SO2 sample. Very sweet, ripe and rich, with very good depth of flavor. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins.
