The 2015 Clos la Madeline is a noteworthy little gem that’s from a beautiful hillside parcel in St. Emilion. It’s deep ruby/purple-colored, with sweet black cherry and black currants fruits, smoked herbs, graphite and a touch of minerality. Medium to full-bodied, textured, and with good concentration, it’s an undeniably good value that will keep for 10-15 years.

Dark ruby. Smells of fermented currants! And it's a bit too drying on the end. Rather old style. (JR)

The 2015 Clos la Madeleine has a high-toned kirsch and creme de cassis-scented bouquet that gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, well-integrated new oak, and impressive substance and freshness towards the convincing finish. I would like more sweetness to come through on the aftertaste to complete the package; nevertheless, this is a very fine offering this year from Clos la Madeleine.
