The 2015 Josephshöfer Riesling Auslese #9 is very clear and aromatic on the nose and provided with very attractive slate aromas. Sweet, intense and aromatic on the palate, this is an elegant and crystalline but also pretty sweet Auslese (105 grams of residual sugar) with a nice grip and salty purity in the finish. Slightly drying in the finish.

This is still quite young and backward but already hints at greatness as creamy and honeyed scents of fruits, almond, yoghurt cream, smoke and honey emerge from the glass. Gorgeous ripe notes of exotic fruits bring depth to the juicy and almost oily feel on the palate. A lovely ripe grapefruit zest kicks in in the finish, giving the wine a great dynamic side. This wine is unsurprisingly BA in style as the grapes were harvested at 115 degrees Oechsle, i.e. above the minimum legal level for BA. But as such, it proves a little beauty in the making.
