Score 92/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Jun 2016

The 2012 Blaufränkisch Burgenland Reserve has a dark purple/ruby color and opens with a lovely pure and intense, concentrated and very deep bouquet of red and dark fruits, crushed stones, leaves and spices. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and strong, but most of all round, smooth, juicy and intense at the moment. It is also fresh, amazingly pure and salty, especially in the finish, which reveals a stunning freshness and – again – an amazing purity. The power of the ripe 2012 vintage – which is comparable here to the 2007 vintage – is very well-dosed and structured and superbly balanced by the lemon-freshness from the Lutzmannsburg limestones, and the very delicate tannins, which seem to roll over the palate.
