Cask sample. Superb apple fruit – pristine and unforced and delicious. Fantastic mealy texture and a long, compact fruit. Fizzes with fruity energy! (RH)

Crystalline and bone dry. Needs time. Very finely etched. Long. (JR)

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Clavaillons was showing a lot of reduction when I tasted it from vat and was difficult to assess. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity - prettier and more elegant than the Champs Gain with orange zest and dried apricot peeking through on the delicate finish. Perhaps this will be earlier drinking than the Champs Gain, yet it still constitutes a fine Puligny-Montrachet. Give this 3-4 years so that it can lose the reduction.
