The 2016 Branas Grand Poujeaux has an intense nose with black fruit, heather, briar and light earthy scents, well defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, finely balanced, a keen line of acidity and a healthy dose of cracked black pepper on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Offering up aromas of blackcurrants and plums mingled with cigar wrapper, pencil shavings and nicely integrated new oak, the 2016 Branas Grand Poujeaux is medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with good concentration, powdery tannins and lively balancing acids. Classically proportioned but intensely flavored, it's still a good five or six years away from early maturity, but it's a terrific young Moulis.

The 2016 Branas Grand Poujeaux has a lovely bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, cedar, touches of mint and star anis. This is well defined and focused. The palate is lithe and pliant, fleshy but structured with gentle grip towards the finish. This Moulis seems to revel in a benevolent growing season with just the right amount of bitterness on the finish. Lots of potential here - one of the finest releases to date. Tasted at the Branas Grand Poujeaux vertical at the château.

The 2016 Branas Grand Poujeaux has a delightful bouquet of brambly red berry fruit laced with damp loamy aromas, the oak here neatly enmeshed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, brown spices liberally sprinkled over the red berry fruit and a satisfying sense of precision on the finish. A very fine, serious Moulis that comes highly recommended. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting.
