Despagne wine. Smooth and intense on the nose. Thick and sweet. But not too heavy. Some real structure to this. Well done! GV? Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2022-2029

The 2016 Mont-Pérat is gorgeous. Super-ripe dark cherry, mocha, bittersweet chocolate, cloves and licorice rush onto the palate as this flamboyant Côtes de Bordeaux shows off its distinctive personality. Readers should expect an especially dark, juicy style. Tasted two times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com

The 2016 Mont-Perat, owned by the Despagne Family, may well be the best I have tasted. It was very closed on the nose compared to the more outgoing Girolate. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry, bilberry and cedar. Masculine in style, structured and a little firm, but I appreciate the balance and freshness plus the persistence on the finish. This is worth seeking out. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2026

The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Mont-Perat reveals notions of fertile loam, stewed tea and wild sage with a core of crushed red and black plums and black cherries. Medium to full-bodied, it gives loads of black fruit and herbal accents in the mouth with a chewy backbone and savory finish. Nov 2018, www.robertparker.com
