The 2016 Grand Corbin delivers a lovely mélange of red and black fruit, violets and touches of melted tar on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins and dense black fruit mixed with graphite and cedar, leading to a surly, backward finish that suggests another couple of years is required. While some attendees wagered it might dry out, I believe there is sufficient fruit here. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Belongs to the Cantemerle stable. Tasted blind. Blackcurrant-cordial nose. Rather severe and arguably too ambitious and extracted? But it’s certainly got the tannin! (JR)

Mid crimson. Intensely fruity on the nose. Rather simple, sweet fruit. Light tannins but the overall impact is of a fairly light wine. (JR)
