An outstanding Fronsac, the 2016 Château Moulin Haut-Laroque is another high-quality wine from this vintage that I expect will sell for a song. Terrific black fruits, wood smoke, tobacco, and graphite all emerge from the glass, and it’s medium to full-bodied, rounded, and textured. It’s one sexy Fronsac to drink over the coming 10-12 years.

The 2016 Moulin Haut-Laroque has an intense yet well-defined bouquet of layers of red cherry and raspberry fruit; hints of cassis emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, pure mulberry and red currant notes and a refined, caressing finish. Delicious!

There’s a rich array of oak aromas on the nose with plush and juicy, vibrant red fruit, extending to the palate that delivers juicy, succulent tannins. A blend of 65 per cent merlot, 20 per cent cabernet franc, ten per cent cabernet sauvignon and five per cent malbec. Try from 2022.
