60% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, aged 18 months in 2-to-3 year old barrels. Again like the Auguste Favier, the nose brings together a whole heap of complexity, freshness – blueberries, menthol, and some more powerful fruit notes. Impeccable balance, with refreshing acidity.

One of the wines of the vintage is the 2014 Châteauneuf Du Pape Collection Charles Giraud. This 60/40 split of Grenache and Mourvèdre boasts a vivid ruby color as well as complex notes of black raspberries, spiced meats, new saddle leather, and peppery herbs. One of the more concentrated, full-bodied wines in the vintage, it has ripe tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. It will keep through 2034.

Full ruby. Deeply perfumed, smoke-tinged aromas of cherry compote, boysenberry, anise and garrigue, complicated by a potpourri flourish. Juicy, expansive and appealingly sweet, offering intense red and blue fruit liqueur flavors and a touch of floral pastilles. Youthful tannins build slowly on an impressively long, focused finish that leaves a sexy lavender note behind.
