The 2015 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a slightly muddled bouquet at first, although it does appear to manifest more clarity with aeration, revealing granite and light smoky scents. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite tensile and poised and displaying impressive depth. I appreciate the harmony toward the finish and the sapidity that leaves you demanding more. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru was showing exceptionally well from bottle, opening in the glass to reveal a complex bouquet of peach, preserved citrus, tangerine oil, iodine and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and ample, with a glossy, textural attack, superb depth and concentration, and fabulous reserves of energy in this warm vintage. The marriage of power and elegance here is really special.

Healthy pale yellow. Discreet yellow peach and soft citrus scents on the tangy nose. Tightly wound, juicy and firm; in a more minerally style than the Referts, showing a lovely streak of acidity that's in sync with the wine's reticent flavors of white peach and hazelnut. Finishes firm but not dry, with a strong impression of acidity and saline minerality. The most backward and austere of these 2015s and tricky to taste today. This is 13.7% alcohol with 4.4 grams per liter acidity, according to Carillon.
