You might like it or not, but the nose of the 2011 Gran Cabernet Franc really screams Cabernet Franc, a grape that seems to be gaining traction in Argentina. It has the bell-pepper, grassy and spicy aromas with perhaps a soapy touch that didn't drive me crazy. The palate shows the house style of polished tannins and I was expecting a little more tension and punch, perhaps some more acidity. It shows great integration of the oak, as the Pulentas seem to have mastered the aging in barrel, which is still a pending issue for many wineries in Argentina. It's still a good example of Cabernet Franc from Agrelo, but I had higher expectations. 12,000 bottles produced.

Bronze medal winner. 100% Cabernet Franc. RS 1.9 g/l. Dark lustrous crimson. Very sweet, almost syrupy palate entry. Something slightly stewed here. Exhibitionistic wine! (JR)

Healthy full medium red. Deep, soil-driven aromas of red cherry, coffee, chicory, mocha, underbrush and green pepper. Supple, velvety and plush, showing a slight green note of V8 in a ripe way. Seamless and satisfying already owing to its nicely integrated acidity and savory quality. Distinctly in a European style, showing a restrained sweetness and a fine-grained texture. Finishes firmly tannic, with a touch of herbs. I like this.
