Score 93/100 · Drink 2005-2020, Robert Parker, Oct 2005

The dense purple-hued 2003 Syrah Liandra Vineyard reveals robust, meaty, smoky bacon fat characteristics along with black fruits and a hint of tar. Long and substantial, with a pure, well-balanced finish, it will drink well for 10-15 years. Importer: Commonwealth Wine & Spirits Inc., Mansfield, MA; tel. (508) 328-6764

Deep, saturated ruby. Multi-dimensional aromas of cassis, blackberry, kirsch, pipe tobacco, anise, rose, violet pastille and freshly cracked pepper. High-pitched and vibrant; this really takes the mouth for a ride through the fruit bushes and spice bazaar, displaying dark raspberry, cherry, redcurrant and exotic Middle Eastern spices. Finishes brisk and lively, with firm but silky tannins. If the Moritz resembles Cornas, this is Cote-Rotie, and a great one at that.
