The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots offer light scents of yellow stone fruit on the nose with a touch of dried mango. The palate is well balanced with good depth, quite saline in the mouth although like several other wines from Maison Montille, I was seeking more tension on the finish.

50-year-old vines. More lees work than in St-Romain. 15-20% new oak. Picked early to get balance. Lovely rich citrus on the nose, ripe but pure. Great balance between rich fruit and super-fresh acidity. With a fine, dry texture and depth from the lees. Oak is felt much more in texture than in flavour. (JR)
