The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a very elegant bouquet: perfumed red cherry fruit, raspberry and light oyster shell aromas evolving with aeration. Very comely! The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, plenty of vivacious red fruit laced with orange zest/blood orange that segues into a poised and quite persistent finish. An excellent Suchots from a Domaine that deserves a higher profile. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Mid crimson. A definite oak note at the moment slightly obscuring the fruit aroma. On the palate, firm, fine-grained but smooth and seductively textured, with a long (currently oaky) finish. (JH)
