The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2014 Barolo is stitched together with precision and care. This is an elegant and contemplative expression of Nebbiolo that carefully follows a traditionalist's playlist of aromas. Wild berries segue to anise seed, truffle and candied orange peel. The wine is beautiful and bright in appearance with refreshing acidity and mineral saltiness that both keep the palate extra clean.

Burlotto's 2014 Barolo is delicate, gracious and very pretty. Floral and supremely inviting, it is a fabulous wine for the year, and the midweight, perfumed style of the vintage comes through loud and clear. In 2014, Burlotto did not make their Barolo Acclivi. Instead, all of the wine that would have gone into that blend went into this, the entry-level bottling, which is a testament to Fabio Alessandria's commitment to delivering not just quality but also value among his more affordable wines.
Mid garnet. Tight rather than ample on the nose. Sweet and vegetal start but not much real lift and intensity. Correct but not uplifting. (JR)
Verduno. Total skin maceration of 20 days and aged in large oak casks of 35 hl for 33 months until it was bottled in July 2017. Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Gorgeous nose of cool, perfumed raspberry fruit, immediately inviting. Super-elegant and with mouth-filling redcurrant and raspberry fruit, lithe and transparent and the whole is supported by crunchy tannins. Truly refreshing. (WS)
