Pale, bright yellow. A sexy lees nuance to the slightly reduced aromas of white peach, hazelnut and crushed stone, with an element of oak char emerging with air. Fat and ripe, conveying a slightly tropical cast to its stone fruit and spice flavors. There's still some CO2 to be absorbed but today the gas leavens the wine's slightly glyceral character. Finishes with an element of salty minerality and a firm lemony edge that calls for a year or two of patience. I find a bit more life and finishing lift here than in a couple of the Puligny premier crus from Carillon.

The only St-Aubin they managed to make in 2016. Tank sample. Crisp, well-defined fruit on the palate and quite sturdy and grainy. Forward. Very citrus and bright fruited with the lightest of bitter notes on the end. (JR)
