2016 Pouilly Fuisse Jus de Hauts de Vignes

The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé Tri des Hauts de Vignes is superb, offering up a classy bouquet of waxy lemon rind, beeswax and subtle smoky reduction. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and expansive—richer than the Mâcon-Pierreclos bottlings but just as incisive as the best of them—concluding with a long, lifted and mouthwateringly chalky finish. It's already a striking wine, but experience suggests it will be at its best with the better part of a decade's bottle age.
