Score 88/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Nov 2017

The 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Sainte Cecile Guerriere is a concrete-aged blend of Grenache and Syrah from an underrated commune. This medium to full-bodied red is richer and deeper than your typical Côtes du Rhône, with cola and dark berry notes, supple tannins and a plush, easy finish. It should drink well for 5 years.

From vines near Suze-la-Rousse, the 2016 Côtes du Rhône Sainte Cécile Guerrière is another Syrah/Grenache blend that offers a deep purple color to go with notes of violets, peppery spice, crushed flowers and blackberry fruit. It's pure, elegant and layered, with silky, fine tannin and a great finish. It's another winner. This is a joint venture between the Chapoutier team and Nelly France, who was a prior employee at the estate. As with everything from this estate, the wines are impeccably made.
