Limestone. Deep crimson. Cordite nose – dramatic! A bit reduced. Lots of wild, rich fruit without that much acidity or structure but a great impact. Blackcurrant cordial! For those who seek super-fruit. Presumably this will eventually develop more subtlety. Vibrant on the finish. (JR)

The 2016 Marsannay Les Longeroies sported aromatics that were a dead ringer for Ribena (children's blackcurrant drink). The palate is quite primal with gritty tannin, a more masculine Marsannay compared to Sylvain's other 2016s but for me, missing the charm and joie-de-vivre, a little too serious and self-absorbed.
