The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village wafts from the glass with notes of lemon rind, pastry cream, white flowers and a light framing of smoky reduction. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, with tangy acids, lovely purity and an elegant, precise profile. I suspect it will further gain in depth and dimension with additional élevage.

Oak aged, 15% new on village vines. Racked to tank just before the 2018 harvest. Finely spiced, expressive, tight, bright citrus and that precise intensity that was not in the more rounded Pouilly-Fuissé and Mâcon wines. This has more tension on the palate. Tangy and electric on the finish. (JH)
