The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Hautes-Maizières is very fine indeed, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, rich spices, grilled game and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with an ample, layered mid-palate, succulent acids and a long finish.

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières has an intriguing bouquet of red fruit, baking powder and flinty undertones. The palate is slightly confit on the entry with raspberry preserve and strawberry. The fruit profile is darker than the Village Cru with more solidity. Don't under-estimate the ageing potential of this wine.
Real grunt and lift on the nose. Lovely pure fruit and the drive of the village. Lots of juice and density. Rather embroidered, somehow. (JR)
(tasted from barrel, as with the following 2016s; 60% vendange entier ): Medium red. Ripe aromas of plum and spices. Offers more texture and sweetness than the preceding samples, with plump red fruit and spice flavors complicated by game and leather nuances. Conveys a rather high-pH mouth feel. I probably would have picked this wine blind as coming from Nuits-Saint-Georges, but this vineyard is actually on the opposite side of Vosne-Romanée.
