The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village, one of Leroux’s largest cuvées at 31 barrels, a large proportion sourced from Flagey-Echézeaux, has a fragrant bouquet with white flowers complementing the red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate displays supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, silky-smooth texture and a tart red cherry and orange peel finish that is quite spicy on the aftertaste. Good potential.

Mostly from Flagey-Échezeaux including Maizières Basses. 60% whole bunch. Barrel sample. Mid to deep crimson. Spicy and almost a touch exotic on the nose. And a sweetness of spice and dark red fruit. Chewy and creamy on the palate. Generous in fruit and light in structure but all making a whole. Pure and gentle but persistent. (JH)
