54% Merlot, 39.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Cabernet Franc. The vintage with a high mildew threat. Chosen by Lillian Barton Sartorius as drinking especially well now. Looks quite evolved. Light and fresh. Gentle and easy without much obvious tannin. (JR)

Full bottle 1,250 g. 54% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. Lilian Sartorius Barton thinks their cool, clay soils helped this wine in 2018. Bright, glowing, pale ruby. Nicely composed with a firm spine of ripe tannin still evident and some rather smart oak influence (from the Barton cellar in St-Julien?). Great poise and balance and a bit more youthful than the 2019s and 2017 tasted so far. Quite persistent. (JR)

Plenty of blueberry, redcurrant and raspberry fruit, supple with fresh tannins good structure. A classic take on the vintage, you can wait to drink but you don't need to. They produced no 2017 vintage at Mauvesin due to frost, and this is an enjoyable return that is worth looking out for. Consultant Eric Boissenot.

Tasted blind. Relatively pale crimson. Neat and well balanced on the nose. Quite sweet and flattering rather than classic. Then a bit hollow on the end. (JR)
