Diam closure. Tasted blind. Deep blackish crimson. Pale rim. Correct, stony nose reminds me of St-Estèphe. Round palate entry and the fruit pretty much covers the ripe tannins. (JR)

The 2018 Lanessan remains outgoing on the nose of black cherries and cedar, slightly more floral than I remember from the barrel tasting but still attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, chewy and quite dense for the vintage, and there’s an unwanted lactic texture on the finish. Maybe this is going through a odd phase, or maybe it’s because my sample was a half-bottle, but it falls a little below what I hoped for out of barrel.

The 2018 Lanessan is a total delight. Medium in body, with terrific persistence, the 2018 is all class. Cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, mint, dried flowers and sweet red cherry all open with a bit of time in the glass. Lanessan is such a pretty and alluring Haut-Médoc.
